Well Hello Clarksville! We have been here 2 weeks and working like crazy to get the house in order. Unpacking into a home that you plan on being in for 15 years is much harder than the regular 2 year army move for us. Really settling in and unpacking everything is hard work. But I am loving every minute of it! Josh and the kids and I are happy. There are a lot of projects we have done are still working on and plan to do over the next year or so. We still plan to put all new hardwood floors down through out the house, update the kitchen. I am so torn with my vintage appliances. I love them and want to keep them but I want new counters and cabinets one day. I like my little kitchen. So you will see several quirky little things about this house that made us fall in love with it. One of my favorite things is the retro all transistor radio and intercom that runs all thru the house. I dial in the radio station (and oh my, I am in Heaven with all of the Nashville Country stations!!!) and I can listen to it anywhere I am. Even the kids rooms and my office! SO lets see. Our house is on an acre and so far we have seen in OUR BACKYARD deer, baby twin fawns, an owl, a groundhog named Charlie, 9 wild turkey that come thru almost every day, and a million fireflies that make our backyard a magical place at night. Our neighborhood backs up to the Red River and it is so peaceful and quiet. Guess what?! I can't hear any yappy dogs! :) So here are some pics for all of you that have been asking. Excuse the mess. I will post more soon of our Crossfit Garage Gym Josh is building and our garden we will be working on. I am super excited about that. Ok, I am super excited about everything! If you are still reading this, THANKS! ;) haha.

I LOOOOOOVED seeing all these -- smart lady to post a blog -- I haven't done that yet with my new house but should!

I also have a retro double oven -- not as retro as your "new" one but old. Yet the rest of the kitchen here is NEW. LOVE THE HOUSE. So happy for you!

Hi laura! Just ran across your site and saw your are an army wife ... but also to a pilot! My husband is in the air force and just started his pilot training .. so we have a long career ahead of us, but I am very excited for it! It makes me excited when I see other people (photographers) who are traveling in the military! It is hard, but rewarding at the same time!

On March 11, 2000 Josh and I were married. Here are a few of my favorite images from that day. These were all shot on film and hand printed. I scanned them so excuse the dust specks. These pictures are the reason I do what I do today. I fell in love with photography through these images.

With all of the snow we have had plenty of extra time on our hands. Kate and Will are giving their classmates Valentine bookmarks this year. Kate is super into reading and is halfway through the Harry Potter series and Will is doing awesome in learning to read. So books are very big around our house these days. So I bought some cool heart fabric from Ikea and took a quick shot of each kid after school. I designed the bookmarks and ordered them from Overnight Prints. Kate and Will hammered the grommets and I tied the ribbon. It was cute to watch her write little notes to each of her friends on the back. 2nd grade is so funny. Well I guess Kinder is too. Kate says that a boy named Garth likes her and Will says a girl named Meagan thinks he is cute. haha!

On Friday night during the part 1 of the blizzard here on the East coast, we lost power. Fortunately it came back on in the middle of the night but the evening was the hardest part. It was super cold and it gets dark so early here. So at 6 we were sitting in the living room dark as can be with nothing to do but sit by the fire because our house temp was dropping. I had found some glow sticks in the cabinet left from Halloween so the kids had something to play with. Yup that is just how exciting we get. That night we all 4 snuggled up in our king bed with socks and sweaters on to keep warm. I do have to admit it was kinda fun but I am so glad the power is back on.
